The story is very loosely based on the Greek myth of Perseus. In ancient times, after defeating their predecessors, the Titans , the gods divided the world among themselves.
Zeus took the skies, Poseidon took the seas, and Hades was left with the Underworld upon being tricked by Zeus.
As time passed, however, mortals began to question and soon resist their creators, angering the Olympians. The Olympians wanted to eliminate Man altogether, but Zeus had other plans for man.
Zeus disguised himself as the King Acrisius and slept with the queen conceiving a child Perseus. So angry at Zeus, Acrisius murdered his wife and threw her and the child in the ocean.
Zeus punishes Acrisius by striking him with lightning and turning him into the deformed creature Calibos.
A fisherman named Spyros finds a coffin adrift in the sea, discovering a baby, Perseus , and the body of his mother, Danae. Spyros and his wife, Marmara, raise Perseus as their own son, alongside their daughter, Tekla.
One day, an adult Perseus and his family watch soldiers from the city of Argos destroying the statue of Zeus. Infuriated at this, the Gods unleash the Furies who attack the soldiers.
Only Perseus survives and is found by a group of soldiers. Perseus is brought before King Cepheus and Queen Cassiopeia , who are celebrating their campaign against the gods.
Queen Cassiopeia compares her daughter Andromeda to the gods and boasts that she is more beautiful than Aphrodite.
The revelry is cut short by the arrival of Hades, who has been given leave by Zeus to punish the mortals for their defiance.
Hades threatens to unleash his monster, the Kraken , against Argos, unless Andromeda is offered as a sacrifice. Before leaving, he also reveals that Perseus is a demigod and the son of Zeus.
Perseus meets Io , who confirms his origin. Seeking to help his newly discovered son, Zeus gives Perseus a sword forged on Mount Olympus and a winged horse named Pegasus.
However, Perseus likes Pegasus. Soon after, they are attacked by Calibos, who kills several of the Kings Guard. They are saved by a band of Djinn , non-human desert sorcerers led by Sheik Suleiman, who tame the remaining Scorpions.
As they continue to travel, Io aids and teaches Perseus and they begin to fall in love. The group arrives at the lair of the Stygian Witches and learn that to kill the Kraken, they must obtain and use the head of Medusa , a gorgon who resides in a temple in the Underworld.
Perseus, Io, Solon, Draco, and their remaining men travel to the entrance into the Underworld. Medusa kills most of the band, but Perseus finally manages to behead her by using his reflective shield to see her with his back turned.
As he leaves the temple, Calibos appears behind Io and fatally stabs her. As Perseus and Calibos fight, Perseus accepts that he is a son of Zeus, picks up the Olympian sword, and stabs Calibos through the chest, which has restored him to his human form.
With his last breath, Calibos urges Perseus not to become a god. As Io lies dying, she urges Perseus to leave her and save Andromeda and Argos. Perseus lovingly stays with her until her last breath instead of leaving immediately.
Pegasus soon takes Perseus back to the city of Argos as the Kraken is released. The people of Argos seize and bind Andromeda to sacrifice her to the Kraken.

As his kingdom is being threatened by the Turks, young prince Vlad Tepes must become a monster feared by his own people in order to obtain the power needed to protect his own family, and the families of his kingdom.

With nothing left to lose, Perseus gathers a war band to help him conquer the Kraken, Medusa and Hades, god of the underworld.
Written by Tom Daly. Going by the previews, this looked like nothing more than a CGI-fest He serves his purpose as Perseus, playing the action hero well enough.
His interaction with the humans who accompany him on his journey is probably the most entertaining part of the film. Mads Mikkelsen, who was a memorable villain in Casino Royale, actually gets to play a fairly decent good guy in this film Draco.
Ralph Fiennes, while good, is kind of irritating with his raspy voice as Hades though, thankfully, that goes away by the end. The rest of the gods have jack squat to do or say.
Alexa Davalos pretty much just plays the damsel in distress in the movie and leaves very little impression as Andromeda. Gemma Arterton as Io , however, proves to be the most successful female character in the movie.
I was happy with how they ended up in the film. As for the FX, the previews basically give it all away Clash of the CGI might have been more befitting a title for the film.
Perseus fights giant scorpions, Perseus fights the Kraken and Perseus fights Medusa. As large-scale as the Kraken was, I personally enjoyed Medusa more.
The fight with her proved to be the most interesting of the many fights in the film. While the movie does try to get across a message, it comes through in a somewhat haphazard sort of way.

I Am Number Four Total Recall I Edit Cast Cast overview, first billed only: Edit Storyline Perseus, the son of the king of the gods Zeus, is caught in a war between gods and mortals, in which his family are killed.
Perseus seeks a way to defeat the Kraken, but Pegasus is captured by Calibos and his men. Zeus commands Athena to give Perseus her owl Bubo; but she orders Hephaestus to build a golden replica of Bubo instead, who leads Perseus to the Stygian Witches.
By taking their magic eye, Perseus forces them to reveal that the only way to defeat the Kraken is by using the head of Medusa , who lives on an island in the River Styx at the edge of the Underworld.
The next day, the group continues on their journey without Andromeda and Ammon, who return to Joppa. Andromeda is shackled to the sea cliffs outside Joppa, and the Kraken itself is summoned.
He then tosses the head into the sea, frees Andromeda, and marries her. The gods predict that Perseus and Andromeda will live happily, rule wisely, and produce children, and Zeus forbids the other gods to pursue vengeance against them.
The constellations of Perseus , Andromeda , Pegasus , and Cassiopeia are created in their honor. In , Andor Films submitted a copy of the script to the British Board of Film Classification , seeking advice on how to secure either a "U" or an "A" certificate.
The draft script included scenes which the BBFC considered would not be acceptable under those certificates, including the Kraken tearing Pegasus to pieces and Andromeda being naked during the climax of the film.
Ray Harryhausen used stop-motion animation to create the various creatures in the film, including Calibos, his vulture , Pegasus, Bubo the mechanical owl, Dioskilos, Medusa, the scorpions, and the Kraken.
Harryhausen was also co-producer of the film, and retired from film-making shortly after it was released. Columbia Pictures were initially set to distribute the film having made most of Harryhausen and producer Charles H.
Stars Harry Hamlin and Ursula Andress were romantically involved at the time of production. Their son, Dimitri, was born in after filming was completed, and their relationship ended in Cross worked with producer Charles H.
Clash of the Titans was released on June 12, Roger Ebert of the Chicago Sun-Times gave the film three-and-a-half out of four stars and called it "a grand and glorious romantic adventure, filled with grave heroes, beautiful heroines, fearsome monsters, and awe-inspiring duels to the death.
It is a lot of fun. It is an instance of the whole not being nearly as good as its parts. Clash of the Titans in 3-D is an Olympus-size failure.
The action sequences are chaotic, the plot is difficult to follow and the cheesy sets sometimes look like props from a theme-park ride. A noisy, dull and flat blockbuster that plays exactly like a video game, with no character development or energy, and fails so miserably due to an overly serious tone, a horrible script and a hero with no charisma - and the tense Medusa scene is the only thing that works.
They alone make the movie worth seeing. The story, on the other hand, is a bit hard to follow and contrived.
I went into this film thinking it would be good For starters if possible its actually more hammy and cheesy than the original, the God scenes on Mount Olympus are awful and look like something outta Flash Gordon, I realise its suppose to be heavenly but the shiny silver armor??
The less said about Neeson and Fiennes panto performances the better the CGI on show that accompanied Fiennes was laughable, simply awful. As for the film its just a jumbled mess and takes a totally different path to the original making it completely wrong frankly, as usual Hollywood MUST add or make up new stuff and ruin the entire story Plus we hardly see Calibos or Pegasus and there are just huge chunks missing in the story involving Calibos and Pegasus, I could go on.
In the new version its clearly on a set, you see the boatman fully taking all atmosphere out of the scene and the boat is fudging huge!
Medusa is actually quite a scary creature and like in all good fantasy films she is hidden until the last moment. Clearly another tacky set with over the top CGI and its all over too quickly with silly big effect stunts and leaping around.
I think the term less is more sums up the film comparisons perfectly here, this new version getting it lost in translation. This was a fun movie.
Watching it on a big drive in screen was interesting and fun. It really did hearken back to the old movie.
I can def see that 3d would have been worthless. More Top Movies Trailers. We want to hear what you have to say but need to verify your email.
